CHILD-PROTECTIVE SERVICES DIFFERENTIAL RESPONSE SYSTEM (§ 63.2-1504)

The Department shall implement a child-protective services differential response
system in all local departments. The differential response system allows local
departments to respond to valid reports or complaints of child abuse or neglect
by conducting either an investigation or a family assessment. The Department
shall publish a plan to implement the child-protective services differential
response system in local departments by July 1, 2000, and complete
implementation in all local departments by July 1, 2003. The Department shall
develop a training program for all staff persons involved in the differential
response system, and all such staff shall receive this training.
