History

This law was first created in 1975. The record of its establishment is cataloged in chapter 503 of that year’s edition of “Acts of Assembly,” the annual state publication listing all changes made to the Code of Virginia in that year. Unfortunately, the 1975 “Acts” aren’t available online. It has been modified 12 times. Those modifications are cataloged by “The Acts of Assembly,” a state publication, by year and chapter. Those modifications that can be read on the General Assembly’s website will be linked accordingly. Those modifications are as follows: in 1977, chapters 377 and 381; in 1979, chapter 613; in 1984, chapter 187; in 1985, chapters 67 and 602; in 1997, chapter 11; in 2001, chapter 844; in 2002, chapter 747; in 2007, chapters 873 and 916; in 2011, chapters 241 and 315; in 2017, chapter 488; in 2018, chapter 820; in 2019, chapter 362.
