§ 56-265.18 Notification requirements

Every locate request and designer notice served by any person on the notification center shall contain the following information:

1. The name of the individual serving such notice.

2. The specific location of the proposed excavation or demolition. If a specific description of the location of the excavation cannot be given, the person proposing to excavate or demolish shall comply with subsection E of § 56-265.17.

3. The name, physical address, telephone number, and electronic mailing address, if available, of the excavator or demolisher, to whom notification can be given.

4. The excavator’s or demolisher’s field telephone number and, if available, electronic mailing address.

5. The type and extent of the proposed excavation or demolition.

6. The name of the person for whom the proposed excavation or demolition is being performed.

History

This law was first created in 1979. The record of its establishment is cataloged in chapter 291 of that year’s edition of “Acts of Assembly,” the annual state publication listing all changes made to the Code of Virginia in that year. Unfortunately, the 1979 “Acts” aren’t available online. It has been modified 5 times. Those modifications are cataloged by “The Acts of Assembly,” a state publication, by year and chapter. Those modifications that can be read on the General Assembly’s website will be linked accordingly.
