§ 63.2-1236 Duty of Department to disseminate information

The Department shall develop and disseminate information to the public regarding the provisions of parental placement adoptions, including the desirability of initiating the procedures required by § 63.2-1232 as early in the placement and adoption process as possible to ensure that birth parents are aware of the provisions of this law and begin required procedures in a timely manner.

History

This law was first created in 1989. The record of its establishment is cataloged in chapter 647 of that year’s edition of “Acts of Assembly,” the annual state publication listing all changes made to the Code of Virginia in that year. Unfortunately, the 1989 “Acts” aren’t available online. It has been modified 7 times. Those modifications are cataloged by “The Acts of Assembly,” a state publication, by year and chapter. Those modifications that can be read on the General Assembly’s website will be linked accordingly. Those modifications are as follows: in 1991, chapters 364 and 602; in 1992, chapter 125; in 1993, chapters 338 and 553; in 1995, chapters 772 and 826; in 1999, chapter 1028; in 2000, chapter 830; in 2002, chapter 747.
