The Egg Board is continued within the Department. The Egg Board shall be composed of five members appointed by the Governor and confirmed in accordance with § 2.2-107 from nominations submitted to him by the Virginia Egg Council, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation, or any other organization that represents persons who are involved in the commercial egg industry in the Commonwealth. The Virginia Egg Council or other organization shall provide nominations for each available position before the expiration of the member’s term for which the nominations are being provided. If the Virginia Egg Council fails to provide nominations for each available position, the Governor may appoint to such available position another person who is involved in the commercial egg industry.

History

This law was first created in 1980. The record of its establishment is cataloged in chapter 316 of that year’s edition of “Acts of Assembly,” the annual state publication listing all changes made to the Code of Virginia in that year. Unfortunately, the 1980 “Acts” aren’t available online. It has been modified 5 times. Those modifications are cataloged by “The Acts of Assembly,” a state publication, by year and chapter. Those modifications that can be read on the General Assembly’s website will be linked accordingly. Those modifications are as follows: in 1985, chapter 448; in 2008, chapter 860; in 2011, chapters 691 and 714; in 2016, chapter 565; in 2025, chapters 75 and 88.
